National Football Champions - Ports Authority

FREETOWN: JUNIOR: Former FC Kallon striker, Morlai Sesay shot Ports Authority FC to their first championship victory in six years as they defeated Old Edwardians 1-0 on Sunday. Sesay’s all-important goal came in the second half of the match through a right footed finisher from a rasping low cross from right-full back, Sam Johnson.

Speaking to Concord Sports, Sesay said he was extremely delighted to be the hero of the match especially as they clinch the trophy from his former club, FC Kallon.
"I am extremely happy to score the all important goal of the season which helped us win the league ahead of FC Kallon," Sesay said adding that this is a remarkable achievement for him.

The Water Front Boys ended the league with 53 points from 19 games and overpowered last season’s champions FC Kallon who ended with 52 points from an equal number of games played, to become champion of 2007/08 Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) national premier league sponsored by Africell.

Ports Coach Daniel Koroma aka Diamond Toes, who had earlier won the title with East End Lions, applauded his boys for their courageous performance throughout the league. He said, "The praises should go to the boys. At the start, we were leading the league and we later lost it. We were overtaken by the likes of FC Kallon and Mighty Blackpool but the boys did not relent and now they’ve won the league."

Though FC Kallon beat Wusum Stars 1-0 in their final match at the Football Academy, they were unable to retain their title due to a point difference. FC Kallon, Coach Abu Sankoh, was disappointed. He told this paper that they’d lost the title two weeks ago when they drew goalless with Bo Rangers in Freetown.
