NEW TWISTS IN ALIEU ISCANDARI Scam Allegation as Iscandari Admits Role in Case but No Knowledge of Receiving Compensation Related to Case.
5.06.2008
ARIZONA: NEW PEOPLE CORRESPONDENT: Alieu Iscandari, named as one of two attorneys who have allegedly scammed a grieving woman all the money due her in compensation, has written an email to The New People editorial team accepting that he was indeed "a co counsel in the matter of Kadiatu Kamara v. Living water of the valley church," although he "did so ONLY on a PRO HAC VICE basis." He further stated that compensation was indeed paid in the case which was due Kadiatu Kamara (the plaintiff who Mr. Iscandari helped represent). He denies getting compensation and he also notes that he never "needed to get the permission of Ms. Kamara to play a video montage of [his] appearance" in said case.
Claiming that he did not have control over the disbursement of funds, Alieu Iscandari did not deny that $912 for air tickets from New York to Arizona may have been purchased but he argues that the tickets may have been bought "exclusively by the Howell Law Firm." As a Pro Hac Vice counsel, he further points out that he never received "professional fees earned."
His misunderstands The New People assertion that he may have allegedly received funds while he was resident in Freetown in a flat in Goderich. What he does not deny is that he may have received monies while he was resident in Freetown where he claims he had been living for one year prior to his "involvement in the matter of Kadiatu Kamara v. Living water of the valley church." He also erroneously misreads the allegation repeated on behalf of the plaintiff and at the plaintiff's request that he quest for compensation has been futile and that she she has yet to receive just compensation due her.
The New People article gives prominence to the voice of a disparaged woman (Kadiatu Kamara) who feels ill-treated by this alleged unethical conduct by Mr. Alieu Iscandari who she had retained for her case. The New People simply re-states the anger and frustration of Kadiatu Kamara. How this professionally disparages the professional Mr. Iscandari's person with impunity is unclear.
Moreover, The New People is not responsible for and has no control over the re-publication and reposting of the story in other media and fora as well as what Mr. Iscandari refers to as "the appurtenant negative comments" in those fora.
Mr. Iscandari proceeds to excerpt a number of statements which he claims are "false and erroneous" assertions in the report. What Mr. Iscandari fails to do is to provide irrefutable evidence that completely exonerates him. He claims that Kadiatu Kamara has never requested the compensation money due her from the case. While it is absolutely inconceivable that Kadiatu Kamara would not ask for a favorable US$250,000 judgement and would leave the money in the pockets of Mr. Iscandari, it is even more unbelievable that Mr. Iscandari would let us believe that the woman has never demanded the compensation money. What The New People is asking and what Mr. Iscandari has failed to answe is simple: "Why has Kadiatu Kamara not received her US$250,000 compensation money for her case?" Splitting hair by saying that you do not control the money or did not disburse the money is insufficient to answer Kadiatu Kamara's simple question: "where is my money?"
The document in possession of The New People also confirms that Mr. Iscandari has indeed received money related to the case. The New People would appreciate Mr. Iscandari's documents or statements from him or his partners in this case that disprove the authenticity of facts, narratives, figures, and documents submitted to The New People. When this is done by Mr. Iscandari or any other party, The New People will both retract the story and apologise for all errors. Until then, it is only fair that the full and complete views of Kadiatu Kamara are presented. Our record of careful research and balanced acceptance of errors of judgement mean that we will wait patiently to receive documents scanned and sent to the editorial team of The New People by Mr. Iscandari. We shall also attempt again to make telephone contact with Mr. Iscandari as we have done in the past on another matter. We will also respond precipituously to any communication via e-mail and keep our reading audience fully informed.
