Written by Samuel B JonjoIn a dramatic twist to the ongoing saga within the Catholic Diocese of Makeni, the Arch Bishop of Freetown Reverend Tamba Charles has on Saturday 7th January 2012 announced the name of the new Bishop of Makeni. The announcement was made at 11am at Sacred Heart Cathedral along Siaka Stevens street in Freetown. The short ceremony started with prayers for the Church in Sierra Leone.

I wish to welcome you all yet to another National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting here in this beautiful city of Makeni. Before I make any statement I entreat you all to please rise and pray silently for a peaceful repose of the souls of our departed party faithfuls since we last met as a council.
Fellow party members, it could be recalled that the last NEC meeting we had in Freetown was specifically to address the contentions some had over portions of our party constitution relating to the legibility of the National Executive Members to contest for the position of the party flag-bearer ahead of the 2012 National Presidential election.
331 Million Tons Bauxite Discovered in Port Loko
Written by NP Northern Province CorrespondentChairman of the Sierra Leone Exploration and Mining Company (SLEMCO), Allieu Mohamed Sesay, has confirmed the discovery of three hundred and thirty one million tons of bauxite in the Port Loko District, northern Sierra Leone.
This assertion has also been buttressed by the Minister of Mines, Mineral Resources and Political Affairs, Alpha Kanu, in an SLBC radio interview yesterday.
