President Ernest Bai Koroma today made a whirlwind helicopter tour of the southern province in cross-checking health facilities as to their readiness for the April 27th 2010 deadline for the commencement of the plan for the free delivery of services and medication to pregnant women, lactating mothers, and under-five children.

If results of the recently concluded bye-elections are anything to go by, the APC government of Ernest Koroma is in deep trouble come 2012. The SLPP is on the move to recapturing lost votes as they have scored very strategic and revealing victories in these elections. The party has managed to get votes that were previously going to the PMDC or APC in their strongholds in the South and East of the country while gaining on votes in the heart of APC territory in Bombali District. In ward 234, Bo District, an area that has a lot of people that have move there from the North of the country and usually gives the APC or the PMDC a sizable number of votes, the SLPP won hands down and took away votes from  the APC and PMDC.
