State House deployed dozens of armed Police officers with sub machine guns with the sole aim of intimidating and arresting the supporters of a Student Union elections candidate who they see as an SLPP supporter.

Police prevented over 150 students from voting and openly intimidated male students with beating and 2 female students were  physically and verbally molested by Police who say openly they have been sent to FBC by State House and not by the Inspector General of police. APC believes that if they maintain a stranglehold over students’ union politics, they'll have a major restive force under control.

The credibility of Kabbs Kanu’s Cocorioko and Sylvia Blyden’s Awareness Times are being widely questioned as their twisted ritual murder and kidnap accounts against newly elected SLPP Local Councilor, Mohamed Kanu-Mansaray, are being disproved by police and court statements from the complainant, Mohamed Koroma, himself.

There is serious build up of tensions among youths of SLPP and APC thugs in Ward 369 (Fourah Bay, Dan St, Kennedy Street) in Constituency 104 where a Local Council Bye-elections is in progress. There have been clashes since this Mid-day. In one instance, a new APC convert Lansana Fadika wanting to show his relevance went to the scene with thugs. He and Nuri Deen MP Constituency 105 had the audacity to enter the residence of Aziz Carew, SLPP Chairman, Constituency 104 at 9 Canton Street. In the absence of Aziz Carew, anti-APC youths wasted no time to deal with him. He sustained a serious leg injury and at least two of his henchmen severely beaten.

Blackout Returns to Freetown Despite Bumbuna

Written by Festus Lahai

The Freetown city is fast becoming darker than it ever was, as a result of the electricity supply shortage that has rocked the city for the past two months now.

Reports have it that the southern city of Bo and the eastern city of Kenema are experiencing similar situations. As all of this is happening, the ruling All People’s Congress (APC), which had widely trumpeted the return of electricity supply to the country, remained silent on the recent development.

The Freetown City Council (FCC) has mounted several road blocks in various parts of the city as it was done during the AFRC/RUF junta regime.

This latest strategy by the FCC to collect and verify local tax receipts has angered several citizens, especially motorists. People are constrained to wait for several hours in their vehicles as the FCC officials embark on a vehicle-to-vehicle search for local tax receipts. Motorists have compared it to nothing more than the kinds of ways the AFRC/RUF treated Sierra Leoneans in 1997. This situation has also worsened the vehicular traffic congestion in various parts of the Freetown.

The Freetown City Council (FCC) has started an operation to chase the children off the streets of Freetown.  All children below the ages of 15, who roam about the city with no serious reason are being intercepted by metropolitan officers and whisked to the FCC headquarters for questioning. As commendable as it may seem, there are a series of questions needing answers and clarification, with regards the actual intention of the FCC in the matter under review.

Blackout Returns to Freetown

Written by Morlai Kargbo

The All People’s Congress (APC) led Government of Sierra Leone continues to swim in a pool of unsolved challenges, with the latest being the unexpected resignation of the Anti Corruption Boss and the return of darkness in the Freetown city.

Usually reliable sources have informed this medium that the blackout that has marred the Freetown city in the past few weeks is as a result of the breakdown of the Bumbuna machine,

“What goes around comes around,” this is an adage that I am never ready to use in my conversation, and it is only the APC government that is forcing me to use it because of the reckless way they are handling the state of affairs of my darling country, Sierra Leone. When the opposition (SLPP) was in power, Freetown was a very filthy place. There were refuse all over the city and until the SLPP left power, the authorities were not able to identify the reason for the massive filth that was found in every corner of the city. It was not an easy thing to control the stench situation of the city.
