The Freetown city is fast becoming darker than it ever was, as a result of the electricity supply shortage that has rocked the city for the past two months now.

Reports have it that the southern city of Bo and the eastern city of Kenema are experiencing similar situations. As all of this is happening, the ruling All People’s Congress (APC), which had widely trumpeted the return of electricity supply to the country, remained silent on the recent development.

The silence from the government has left people with the option of speculating on what is responsible for the electricity outage. It is widely being rumored that the Bumbuna Hydro Electric Dam has developed some serious mechanical problem, as a result of the failure of the present government to heed technicians’ advice. Due to the dries, experts are said to have advised that the dam be shut down to avoid damage since the water level in the dam had considerably reduced. The government refused the advice thus the present damage which they are refusing to tell the people about.

At a time like this when the country is celebrating 50 years of independence, the APC government has come under incessant lambasting for plunging the Freetown city into total darkness.

Several people have expressed fear that the situation will continue unaddressed until after independence celebrations since the government is yet to be seen making any realistic effort to right the wrongs.

Several people are now reverting to generators and similar machines that were sometime back dubbed Kabbah Tigers are now being called Koroma Tiger.
